FRUITS WE GROW

APRICOTS

Season: Late June – July

About Apricots: Apricots are our earliest stone fruit of the season. They have a short harvest window and come and go quickly. We grow multiple apricot varieties that ripen sweet and flavorful in our Naches Valley climate.

Availability: Primarily sold pre-picked at our farm market. Occasional u-pick opportunities when the crop is abundant – check website for announcements.

When Ripe:

  • Golden-orange color
  • Slight give when gently squeezed
  • Sweet aroma
  • Releases easily from tree

PLUMS & PLUOTS

Season: July – August

About Plums & Plouts: We grow multiple plum varieties including sweet fresh-eating plums and traditional Italian prune plums excellent for drying and baking. Our pluot varieties are plum-apricot hybrids with exceptional sweetness and unique flavor. These mid-summer stone fruits develop rich colors and deep flavors in our valley climate.

Availability: Available at farm market pre-picked. U-pick occasionally offered – sign up for email notifications.

When Ripe:

  • Full color development (varies by variety – red, purple, or golden)
  • Slightly soft when gently pressed
  • Sweet fragrance
  • Comes off tree with gentle twist

PEARS

Season: August – September

About Pears: We grow several pear varieties that thrive in our valley. Pears are unique among tree fruits – they’re picked when mature but still firm, and ripen OFF the tree for best flavor and texture.

Availability: Primarily sold pre-picked at our farm market. Check for u-pick announcements during peak season.

When to Pick:

  • Fruit releases easily with lift-and-twist
  • Still FIRM (don’t wait for softness)
  • Slight color change from dark green to lighter green/yellow
  • Pick firm, ripen at home at room temperature for 3-7 days

How to pick Peaches Correctly

Instructions

Picking Technique:

  1. Cradle the fruit gently in your hand
  2. Lift upward and give a slight twist
  3. If ripe, it will release easily
  4. DO NOT grab with fingers and pull down – this bruises the fruit

IMPORTANT: Some peaches suffer from “split pit” – pit breaks into pieces. These are usually larger, lopsided, and may have an opening at the stem. Toss these to the ground.
