How to pick Cherries Correctly

Instructions

How to Pick:

  1. Grasp the cherry gently
  2. Twist and lift upward
  3. The stem should come with it
  4. Leave the wooden spur on the tree

IMPORTANT: Pick the cherry and stem only – NOT the spur (woody part). Removing the spur damages the tree and prevents cherries from growing there next year. Many farms don’t allow u-pick cherries for this reason. We trust you’ll pick correctly!

Cherry Season Timing

Cherry season usually begins in late June and continues into early July. Weather plays a critical role in our harvest. We need to survive winter cold, spring frost during blooming, good pollination weather, and warm growing conditions. Rain can devastate cherries – too much water causes them to split. Despite these challenges, we manage a crop nearly every year.

We typically offer at least two u-pick weekends during the season, depending on crop size and weather conditions. We announce u-pick availability on this website and through our email list.
